SEO & SEM

What is SEO?
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the procedure of analyzing or examines websites and makes changes in them to enable for enable search engines to read it, recognize it and index it properly. This is not altering the appearance of site. It is minor changes, adding up or altering text in the code so that the search engines can interpret the site. SEO is basically serving the search engines.

What is SEM?
Search Engine Marketing, or SEM, is the type of Internet Marketing that promotes the websites by increasing the visibility of websites in the Search Engine results pages (SERPs). Few SEM methods are: Search Engine Optimization (or SEO), paid link placement, and paid inclusion.

Search engine marketing (SEM) refers to the small text advertisements which usually appear in search engine results at the top or down the right hand side. These are often tagged as "sponsored Links" or "sponsored results".


Difference between SEO & SEM

SEM is broader term than SEO. It includes SEO along with other ways to improve a sites visibility in search engine results pages, just like paid inclusions and paid listings.

The SEM carries out instant results. If you wanna increase your traffic and your visibility immediately, and you have a enough budget, this will be the way to move. While, SEO can takes 30-45 days to make your site visible in SERPS.

The campaigns of SEM will not complete without SEO. SEO is one of the ways of optimizing the content of website for relevant and targeted key phrases in order to get higher natural ranking than its competing websites. SEO is providing a cheaper and long term solution for getting higher qualified traffic.
